NEW!!! Announcement 26 July 2005
Postdoctoral position available. Applications are sought immediately. It is expected that the successful candidate will take up their position between September 2005 and December 2005.
Digital holography is an exciting new area in optical information processing. We capture digital representations of holograms (whole Fresnel fields) of real-world three-dimensional (3D) objects, that allow us to reconstruct arbitrary views of the object from a small range of angles. There are two aspects to our research: (i) improving the quality of captured and optically reconstructed digital holograms, and (ii) 3D image processing using digital holograms.
We have one 18-month position available. We are looking for a researcher with a background in optics, image processing, or both. Applicants with expertise in holography or 3D image processing would be ideal. Applicants can be from anywhere in the world. Salary will be approximately euro 33,400 per year. In addition, travel to selected conferences will be funded.
Applicants should send a CV, contact details of two academic referees, and a cover letter stating that they wish to apply for the "Postdoctoral position in holographic image processing" to Thomas Naughton, Department of Computer Science, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. Applications by email (
) and by fax (+353-1-7083848) are encouraged. The next assessment of applications will take place on 25 August 2005. Applicants should ensure they submit by that date.
Informal enquiries can be directed to Thomas Naughton by email.
