I am a lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, National University of Ireland Maynooth.
I completed my primary degree in Business and Finance (awarded by the University of Dublin) in 1996 and worked for several years in Banking and Finance. During this time I worked as a project manager and business analyst and through these roles I developed a keen interest in Information Technology (IT). In 1999 I returned to university and completed a Masters in Computer Science, followed by a PhD in Computer Science (both awarded by NUIM).
Upon completion of my PhD I took a position as a Research Scientist at Bell Labs Ireland. My work included project-management; software development; and machine learning and statistical analysis research-based projects. In September 2007 I commenced my current academic position but continue to collaborate regularly with, and provide consultancy services to, Bell Labs Ireland and other IT companies.
I am a member of the Centre for Telecommunications Value-Chain Research
I am a member of the Institute of Microelectronics and Wireless Systems
