Introduction to Parallel Computing by Kumar, Grama, Gupta and Karypis,
Benjamin/Cummings, 1994.
Very strong on algorithm design.
Parallel Processing Algorithms for GIS by Healy, Dowers, Gittings
and Mineter, Taylor & Francis, 1998
A couple of case studies in lectures come from this book.
